The OSU Department of Theatre’s mission is to help students become inventive, collaborative theatre makers — a goal that sets us apart from other programs. Our faculty have their feet firmly planted in two worlds: innovative instruction and the field of working artists. This allows students access to twice as many opportunities.
The degrees offered by the theatre department are specifically designed for artistic excellence. By focusing on honing students’ crafts while cultivating their artistic voice, the programs create theatre makers, not just theatre do-ers. Entrepreneurial education is incorporated to help students function as their own industry in the ever-changing world of performance, and through integrated training in performance, voice and movement, students can work in any performance medium — stage, film, musical theatre, performance art, physical theatre, dance or community arts.
