The College of Education and Human Sciences is a group of service-minded faculty, staff, and partners who enhance lives through innovative research, teaching, and engagement. The wellbeing and development of our students continues to be our top priority, and we are working hard to ensure our graduates' degrees are worth even more across their professional careers.
Points of Pride:
- In 2024, the Cleo L. Craig Child Development Laboratory will mark a full century on the OSU campus. The College of Education and Human Sciences will honor the CDL’s history and legacy while positioning the lab for a new century during a Centennial Celebration throughout the year. The CDL is the nation’s second-longest continuously operating on-campus lab school, and provides a premier teaching model for future early childhood educators and quality educational experience for children and families.
- In the fall of 2023, the College of Education and Human Sciences launched a Bachelor of Science in Nursing on the Stillwater campus. The new BSN degree will help meet Oklahoma’s ongoing and critical shortage of nurses. The Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education accredited program prepares future nurses to meet the challenging healthcare needs in both rural and urban communities.
- The Ray and Linda Booker OSU Flight Center continues to enhance the student experience and strengthen our position as the premier destination for aviation education and the home of the best-trained aviators in the country.
- Opportunity Orange Scholars, an inclusive postsecondary education program for students with intellectual disability, was approved as a Comprehensive Transition Program by the U.S. Department of Education, allowing prospective students to apply for federal financial aid. In the Fall of 2023, the College of Education and Human Sciences welcomed its second cohort of Opportunity Orange Scholars to campus.
Highlights of the College of Education and Human Sciences include:
- Largest collection of health programs on the Stillwater campus with roughly one-third of students pursuing an academic degree related to mental, physical or relational health.
- Graduate programs in education continue to rise in the U.S. News and World Report national rankings, moving up to No. 70 and ahead of many Big 12 peers.
- Undergraduate enrollment grew by more than 9 percent and CEHS welcomed a record freshman class in Fall 2023.
- Home to the Office of Educator Support, which prepares and develops educators who facilitate life-long learning and enrich quality of life for people in public schools and other educational settings.
- For the 2023-2024 academic year, five students from the College of Education and Human Sciences were recognized as OSU Outstanding Seniors.
"I see this College of Education and Human Sciences as a leader nationally and internationally. We have that capacity. We have that strength within the knowledge, skills and dispositions. Together, we are unique in our approaches in addressing the human experience. That puts us on a map for the excellent work we are doing and will continue to do."
