Pete’s Pet Posse (P3), OSU’s Pet Therapy Program, is a cornerstone of the university’s commitment to being America’s Healthiest Campus®. Pete’s Pet Posse enhances the physical and emotional health of the entire OSU family. Pet Therapy teams serve in offices across campus to provide a friendly, furry face to students, faculty and staff who need a pick-me-up during the day or support during a stressful time. The daily presence of the P3 pups reminds everyone that their well-being is important, and they have a friend that is happy to shower them with love and comfort.
P3 is unique because each therapy dog belongs to families of employees and others affiliated with OSU. They live with their humans, spend time in OSU offices and visit a variety of OSU locations regularly to make the university a little brighter orange. This incredible program has expanded beyond Stillwater to the OSU-Tulsa, OSU Center for Health Sciences and the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine Cherokee Nation in Tahlequah, the nation’s first tribally-affiliated medical school. Nearly 60 pet therapy teams serve our students, faculty, staff and visitors system wide.
"As a physician, I know animals play a positive role in people's health. There is something about animals that make people happier and healthier. We always thought they did, but there is actually scientific research to support that idea."
