The Office of Transfer Student Success is committed to the success of our transfer students. We offer a wide range of services to assist transfer students while they transition to OSU and through graduation including support services related to transferring, secondary academic advising, workshops, and seminars, assistance with understanding how and where credits transfer in, activities and events, and other guidance and resources.
Funding given to Transfer Student Success will go toward important programs including:
- Transfer Ambassador Program – Transfer Student Ambassadors are high-achieving students selected from each academic college to assist new and returning transfer students with acclimating to OSU. They must have attended at least one full semester at OSU, be in good academic standing, volunteer for at least 10 hours, and have a recommendation from a faculty or staff member. These students assist with New Student Orientation, tabling events, workshops and seminars, and much more! Transfer Ambassadors will be eligible for a leadership award from the Transfer Success Fund. The amount of award is dependent on the funds available. Funding will also pay for a transfer ambassador cord to wear during graduation.
- Transfer Mentorship Program – First-year transfer students are matched with a mentor who is also a transfer student. Mentors can have up to 8 mentees. Mentors are matched to mentees by shared interests or academic programs. Mentors will receive training on how to be mentors, campus and community resources, and upon completion of at least one year with 4 or more mentees they will receive a Mentorship Cord for graduation. The funding pays for the cords, mentor training and leadership activities, and mentor/mentee events and activities throughout the year.
- Welcome Week events and activities include:
- Transfer T-Shirt Swap – Transfer students can swap a t-shirt from their previous institution for one from OSU. This swap symbolizes their transfer into OSU and becoming an OSU Cowboy.
- Demystifying Transfer Workshop – Transfer students are educated on how their transfer credit applies to their degree programs, how to utilize their degree audits to plan for classes, and much more.
- Open House and Lunch at the Transfer and Veteran Success Center
- Transfer and Veteran Success Center – The Center provides students with a place to study, relax, interact with other transfer students, and get a free snack, soda, or cup of coffee. The Center is their home on campus. The Center sees over 1600 students each semester!
“Having an office on campus dedicated to the success of transfer students has helped me become a more active and involved college student. It is a friendly unit on campus I can always turn to when I need help with anything. The best thing about Oklahoma State University is that there are many 'bests'. Too many to choose just one. Personally, I would say the diverse culture of the campus. Everyone belongs here.”
