This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Edmon Low Library. That’s seven decades of study dates and late-night cram sessions, seven decades of research and discovery, and seven decades of innovation and inspiration. For 70 years, the Edmon Low Library has been a second home to our students. To celebrate the occasion, we’re asking 70 friends to donate $100 each to support one of our most popular and impactful student resources: free textbooks
Each semester, the Library places a selection of required OSU textbooks "on reserve." This means the books are available for two-hour checkouts. The goal of the program is to offer students one more option to deal with the rising cost of textbooks.
The project was introduced in Fall 2006 and has expanded over the years to include a broader selection of textbooks. In Spring 2023, the program covered all required textbooks costing more than $90. This included 47 new books, which the Library purchased for just over $7,000, and another 225 already in our collection. These textbooks are required for 267 course sections with a total enrollment of 9,431 students.
Your gift to the OSU Library Fund will underwrite this popular service! The Textbook Checkout Program is a meaningful way the Library supports OSU students and helps to make higher education more affordable for everyone.
