The theatre department's mission is to help students become inventive, collaborative theatre makers. This is what sets us apart from other programs. Our faculty have their feet firmly planted in two worlds. We pride ourselves on using innovative instruction methods, but we challenge each other to remain working artists in the field. That means students will have access to twice as many opportunities.
The degrees offered by the theatre department are specifically designed for artistic excellence. By focusing on honing student's craft and cultivating their artistic voice in this world, the programs create theatre makers, not just theatre do-ers. Entrepreneurial education is incorporated to help students function as their own industry in this ever changing world of performance, and through integrated training in performance, voice and movement, students have the ability to work in any performance medium - stage, film, musical theatre, performance art, physical theatre, dance, and community arts.
