During the pandemic, the arts played a vital role in our community. Educational programming and partnerships did not slow down! With the support of the Art Advocates, we were able to engage the community in meaningful ways through videos, art kits, and much more. We would be remiss not to recognize the new engagement opportunities we have discovered. The Museum is eager to use these new opportunities to elevate our vision for the arts at OSU; but we can't do it without you!
Here are a few examples of how we ramped up programs:
- Art Advocates dollars are matched 1:1 by State funds to extend our community and campus outreach.
- Exhibition-focused programs include artist talks, public school tours, grants through SPEF, Second Saturday activities, newsletters, and more.
- When the museum was closed due to COVID, we had more than 12,200 visits to our Facebook page and 14,447 unique website views.
- Also during COVID, more than 80 short videos were produced by staff and student interns for social media. More than 35,000 were impacted through virtual programming.
There are more exciting things on the horizon for the Art Advocates, including the May 2022 Masterpiece Moments events and a bold project we are launching to benefit all students, faculty, and staff on campus. We are joining President Kayse Shrum in supporting a campus priority, the new Visual Arts Center near campus.
