Each semester, the Library places a selection of required OSU textbooks "on reserve." This means the books are available for two-hour checkouts. The goal of the program is to offer students one more option to deal with the rising cost of textbooks.
The project was introduced in Fall 2006 and has expanded over the years to include a broader selection of textbooks. In Fall 2021, the program covered all required textbooks costing more than $90. This included 126 books, which the Library purchased for just over $14,000 to put on reserve for student use. A gift of $20,000 would fund the program for a full year.
Your gift to the OSU Library Fund will underwrite this popular service! The Textbook Checkout Program is an important way the Library supports OSU students and helps to make higher education more affordable for everyone.
